Prospiciente Deo

Here is today's emblem and distich by Joachim Camerarius, 1.3.

Prospiciente Deo
Si faveat caelum, bene surculus arbore crescet:
Si faveat Numen, tu quoque magnus eris.




The vocabulary is keyed to the DCC Latin Vocabulary list. There are three words which are not on the DCC list:

faveō -ēre fāvī fautum: favor (+ dat.)
prōspicio, -ere, prōspexī, prospectum - look ahead, foresee, watch out for
surculus, surculī m. - twig, branch, shoot

arbor arboris f.: tree
bene: well
caelum -ī n.: sky, heavens
crēscō crēscere crēvī crētum: grow, increase
deus -ī m.; dea -ae f. god; goddess
māgnus -a -um great
nūmen -inis n.: divine will, deity
quoque: also, too
sī: if
sum, esse, fuī: be, exist
tū tuī tibi tē: you (sing.)
