Non Te Sed Nummos

Here is today's emblem and distich by Gabriel Rollenhagen, Book 1.71, with an English rendering by George Wither.

Non Te Sed Nummos
Non te, sed nummos, turpissima bestia sponsus,
Crede mihi, qui te tum bene tractat, amat.

Thy seeming-Lover, false will bee
And, love thy Money, more than Thee.

Here is the vocabulary:

non - not
tu - you
sed - but
nummus - coin, cash
turpis - nasty, disgraceful
bestia - beast, wild animal
sponsus - bridegroom
credo - believe, trust
ego - I, me
qui - who
tum - then
bene - well
tracto - drag, handle, manage
amo - love
