Solum A Sole

Here is today's emblem and distich by Gabriel Rollenhagen, Book 1:92, with an English rendering by George Wither. Elsewhere in his emblem, Rollenhagen uses the rays of the sun to indicate the presence of God.

Solum A Sole
Cum solum a sole fecundum, ager omnis ab illo
Fertilis, et frugum munere feta Ceres.

The Ground brings forth all needfull things
But, from the Sunne, this vertue springs.
