Undique Tutus

Here is today's emblem and distich by Joachim Camerarius, 1:27. You have to look closely to see the rooster in the laurel! The rooster supposedly preferred to perch in the laurel because he would be safe there from lightning bolts.

Undique Tutus
Gallus, amans lauri, vigili solem ore salutat:
Sic a caelesti mens pia pendet ope.

Here is the vocabulary:

undique - on all side, everywhere
tutus - safe
gallus - rooster
amo - love
laurus - laurel
vigilis - watchman, guardian
sol - sun
os - mouth
saluto - greet
sic - thus, in this way
a - from
caelestis - heavenly, celestial
mens - mind
pius - dutiful, faithful, good
pendeo - depend
ops - power, might, influence
