Vive Deo gratus...

Here is today's Rhyming Distich, and here are some more posts with Rhyming Distichs. I found this poem in the collection Philosophia Patrum edited by Julius Wegeler.

Vive Deo gratus, toti mundo tumulatus,
Pectore pacatus, semper transire paratus.

The vocabulary is keyed to the DCC Latin Vocabulary list. There are two words which are not on the DCC list:

pāco, -āre - make peaceful, pacify, soothe
tumulo, āre - bury, entomb, inter

deus -ī m.; dea -ae f. god; goddess
grātus -a -um: pleasant; grateful
mundus -ī m.: world, universe, heavens
paro -āre: prepare, acquire; parātus -a -um, ready
pectus -oris n.: chest, breast
semper: always, ever
tōtus -a -um: whole, entire
trānseo -īre -iī -itum: go across
vīvo -ere vīxī victum: live
