Qui servit Christo...

Here is today's Rhyming Distich, and here are some more posts with Rhyming Distichs. This one comes from the Florilegium Gottingense edited by Voigt.

Qui servit Christo, mundo non vivit in isto;
Cum mala formidat, Christus bona multa sibi dat.



The vocabulary is keyed to the DCC Latin Vocabulary list. There are two words which are not on the DCC list:

Christus, m. - Christ
formīdo, -āre - fear, dread, be afraid

bonus -a -um: good
cum: with (prep. + abl.); when, since, although (conjunction + subj.)
do dare dedī datum: give
in: in, on (+ abl.); into onto (+ acc)
iste, ista, istud: that, that of yours; adv. istīc or istūc, over there; istinc, from over there
malus -a -um: evil
multus -a -um: much, many; multō, by far
mundus -ī m.: world, universe, heavens
nōn: not
qui, quae, quod: who, which, what; quis quid: who? what? which?
servio -īre: be a slave, serve (+ dat.)
sui, sibi, sē: him- her- itself
vīvo -ere vīxī victum: live
